The Bareilly-Ludhiana Economic Corridor: Information & Status

The 450 km Bareilly-Ludhiana Economic Corridor, also known as the Bareilly-Ludhiana Expressway, is a partially access-controlled, 6 lane highway that is currently under development in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. This project is being developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-2 program, with a deadline of March 2026, and is expected to cost around Rs. 15,000 crore.

The Bareilly-Ludhiana Economic Corridor is a mix of brownfield-upgrade and greenfield projects, with a total length of 450 km. The greenfield section of the expressway is 360 km long, while the remaining 90 km is a brownfield upgrade of NH-44 from Ambala to Ludhiana. The project is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) using the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model.

The Bareilly-Ludhiana Economic Corridor comprises of three main highway projects:

A 220 km greenfield section from Bareilly to Shamli
A 121.78 km greenfield section from Shamli (Gogwan Jalalpur) to Ambala (Sadopur)
A 90 km brownfield upgrade of NH-44 from Ambala to Ludhiana

Package and Contractor Details of Ludhiana Bareilly Expressway

The 121.78 km Shamli-Ambala Expressway is a key component and important section of the larger Bareilly-Ludhiana Economic Corridor.

In January 2022, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) invited tenders for the construction of the Shamli-Ambala Expressway in three packages. The details of these packages, including the contractors and their status, are given in the table below:
