Project Brief and Salient Features of Delhi Urban Extension Road 2
A 38.111 kilometre third semi-ring road would be formed along Delhi’s western border as part of the 74.98 km Delhi Urban Extension Road 2 (UER) II project, an expressway that is currently being built by NHAI and is designated as NH-344M.
The project was envisioned by DDA in the early 2000s as a component of Delhi’s 2021 Master Plan, but it was abandoned due to difficulties with land acquisition and funding in 2018 and turned over to NHAI. DDA would now offer Rs. 4,000 crore in viability gap funding.
The URS Scott Wilson India – AECOM India JV produced the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for UER 2. Two spurs (NH-344P) to Sonipat’s Bahadurgarh Bypass and Barwasni Bypass are also included in the project. J Kumar Infraprojects is currently building a 7.5 km stretch of UER 2 as part of Dwarka Expressway’s packages 1 and 2.
