The UPEIDA-funded 91.35 km Gorakhpur Link Expressway project is a four-lane, access-controlled expressway that connects Jaitpur in the Gorakhpur District with Salarpur on the Purvanchal Expressway in the Azamgarh District.
The land acquisition phase for this greenfield project began in February 2019 after it was initially announced in 2018. Apco Infratech and Dilip Buildcon began construction in February 2020 with a 36-month completion target. The project has a 110-meter right-of-way (ROW).

Route Map and Alignment of Gorakhpur Link Expressway
At Salarpur (District Azamgarh), on the Purvanchal Expressway, is where the expressway’s southern terminus is located. The districts of Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Gorakhpur are all connected from there. The Ghaghara River is crossed along the journey.
