The 62.7 kilometres NE-6 Kanpur Lucknow Expressway is a six-lane, access-controlled motorway that connects Azad Chauraha, which is close to Kanpur’s Ganga Bridge, with Shaheed Path in Lucknow.
Egis India Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. created the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this hybrid brownfield-upgrade and greenfield project.
The highway was officially designated as National Expressway 6 in the Gazette of India in December 2020 after the expressway’s foundation stone was placed in March 2019 (again on January 5, 2022).
In March 2022, PNC Infratech received two contracts for the construction work.

Between Amausi and Bani, on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, there will be two elevated sections, from chainage 13.025 to 16.400 (3.375 km) and 18.480 to 27.620 (3.620 km) (9.14 km). There will be 6 flyovers, 38 underpasses, 3 major bridges, and 28 smaller bridges.

What is the current status of Kanpur Lucknow Expressway?
Land acquisition is now underway. In March 2022, PNC Infratech received two contracts for their construction work.

The expressway will reduce the distance travelled from two hours on the NH-25 to 50 minutes.
A total of 460 hectares of land would be purchased along its course, which will travel through 31 villages in Unnao District and 11 villages in the Lucknow District. Banthara, Bani, Datauli Kantha, Taura, Neorna, Amarsas, and Rawal are a few of these villages.
