Konkan Expressway: Enhancing Connectivity Along the Maharashtra Coastline
The Konkan Expressway, a proposed project by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), aims to create a 6-lane access-controlled highway spanning 450 kilometers in Maharashtra, India. This greenfield expressway will connect Panvel (Navi Mumbai) and Sindhudurg via Raigad and Ratnagiri, running parallel to the picturesque Maharashtra coastline.

Benefits and Connectivity
The Konkan Expressway, proposed by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, aims to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time between Mumbai and Sindhudurg. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce the travel time from the current 6-7 hours to approximately 3 hours, providing a faster and more efficient transportation route along the scenic Konkan region. The expressway will connect three districts of Maharashtra: Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.

Route Map and Current Status
An official PDF route map for the project will be made available in the future, providing a detailed overview of the expressway’s alignment. As of the current status in January 2022, the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared, and land acquisition has not yet commenced. In August 2020, tenders were invited by MSRDC to prepare the DPR in four sections, each approximately 100-125 kilometers long. The winners of these tenders are currently unknown.
