Ranchi Outer Ring Road Project
The Jharkhand government is focusing on enhancing connectivity in Ranchi, owing to its growing population and industrial expansion. In addition to the existing flyover bridge and inner ring road, the proposed Ranchi Outer Ring Road, expected to cost Rs 7,000 crore, will be a circular road spanning around 200 km and will include several cable-stayed bridges. It will be built approximately 10 km away from the current 86 km long ring road.

Sahibganj Manihari Cable Stayed Bridge
The Jharkhand &’ Bihar governments are working together on the completion of a new bridge on River Ganga, connecting Sahibganj in Jharkhand with Manihari in Bihar, by October 2024. This bridge, which is 6 km long and designated as the world’s third-longest extradosed bridge, will shorten travel distance by 1/10th of the present one. The project also involves the construction of the Manihari bypass and the widening of NH-131A, forming a strategic connecting point to North-Eastern India and reducing traffic congestion at the Vikram Shila Setu bridge in Bhagalpur. The cost of this project is Rs 1,900 crore, and around 2,750 construction workers are working to deliver it.

Jamshedpur Mango flyover
Exciting news for the residents of Mango in Jamshedpur’ as the state Cabinet has approved the construction of a third bridge and the first flyover in the city. The projects is estimated to cost INR 474.78 crores and will provide high-quality infrastructure and better connectivity for the people.. The four-kilometer bridge will connect Mango & Azad Basti to Sakchi, while the flyover will bring relief to the problem of road jams. The development of world-class civic amenities is a long-pending ambition, & the new infrastructure will bring Jamshedpur closer to being on par with metro cities.

Gola-Ormanjhi Expressway
The Gola-Ormanjhi Expressway, which will cost around INR-1700 crore to build, has been approved by the National-Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and will shortly be put up for bid. The project, which will be developed as a Greenfield Project, will be the first actual expressway in the state of Jharkhand. There will be two sections to the project, and separate tenders will be released for each. The new expressway will give drivers of big vehicles and owners of personal vehicles a better option for transportation.

Ranchi Railway Station Redevelopment
The Ranchi railway station is undergoing a redevelopment project’ which includes construction of two 3-storied terminal buildings, 10 lifts, 17 escalators, separate entry & exit points, a parcel handling system, and an elevated concourse. The new terminal building will allow passengers to access platform 5, and will be connected’ to the other terminal building by a footbridge. The project is expected to cost Rs 447 crore &should be completed by 2025. The elevated concourse will offer various amenities including restrooms, cafes, and restaurants.

Masaliya – Raneshwar Mega Lift Irrigation Project, Dumka
The Masaliya-Raneshwar mega lift irrigation project in Dumka was launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The project, which is expected to cost Rs 1,300 crore, will benefit farmers in 276 villages by irrigating nearly 55,000 acres of land through underground pipelines. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) will construct the project, which will pump water from the Siddheshwari river. Within three years, a 158-meter barrage will also be built on the river.

Ranchi Howrah Vande Bharat Train
Siramtoli Flyover
A cable-stayed bridge-cum-flyover is set to be completed in the city by Year 2024, becoming the first of its kind in the state. The bridge will minimize land usage by suspending a large span and is planned to cross railway lines and the Harmu river while running over an existing ROB. Originally planned to connect Siramtoli Chowk and Rajendra Chowk through Patel Chowk, it was modified to extend up to the Mecon roundabout and further bifurcate into two 2-lane roads, increasing its length to 2.34 km.
The project was approved by the cabinet in 2022 and will be constructed at a cost of Rs 337cr by Larson & Toubro and Shapoorji and Pallonji, with a completion period of 20 months. The cable-stayed bridge will reduce traffic load on the Kadru overbridge and main road overbridge, and go over the top of the existing bridge without touching the ground.

AIIMS Ranchi
All India-Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has proposed a new campus in Ranchi’, Jharkhand that will include educational, healthcare & residential facilities, and is aimed at empowering the state in these sectors. The new campus will be the second AIIMS in Ranchi, in addition to the operational campus in Deoghar. The proposed campus will position Ranchi as a health hub that will serve patients from Jharkhand and neighboring states such as Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha.

Dhalbhumgarh Airport
Jamshedpur will be served by the upcoming Dhalbhumgarh Airport, a domestic airport that is being planned for Jharkhand, India’s East Singhbhum district. The airport will-be constructed on a decommissioned airfield from World War II that is around 60 kms from Jamshedpur.. A MoU for the construction of the airport was signed by the Government of Jharkhand & the Airports Authority of India in January 2019. A joint venture company was supposed to finish the project by December 2020. The airport’s construction has been delayed until’2022 or later because to delays and the COVID-19 epidemic. Land acquisition for a 3.5 km link road leading to the airport, however, began in December 2022.

Sambalpur Ranchi Expressway
Currently, a special attention is being given to the road’ construction in Jharkhand. As part of Bharatmala Pariyojana initiative, an expressway will be constructed to connect Ranchi with Sambalpur in Odisha.. The construction of this expressway, which has been approved under the ambitious Bharatmala project, will save a considerable amount of time for travel between Ranchi & Sambalpur.
It’s also expected to accelerate commercial activities in the area. The approval of the Sambalpur-Ranchi expressway has brought joy to the local population. The road will begin in Littibedha in Odisha & connect to Ranchi’s outer ring road in Khunti district. The length of this road will be 146.2 kilometers, and a new road will be constructed to minimize turns. The plan is to make the expressway 4 to 6 lanes wide.

Kutchery-Piska Elevated road project Ranchi
Commuters in Ranchi who used to face difficulties while travelling on the Kutchery-Piska road can finally breathe a sigh of relief. An elevated road facility is expected to be constructed on the 3.6 km stretch within the city’s bustling commercial hub within the next two years. With around 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles passing by daily, this stretch is congested with traffic throughout the day and into the late evenings. People use this route to commute daily and to connect with other districts.
Due to the heavy traffic and congestion, the city government has received numerous complaints from commuters regarding the situation. As a solution, the “elevated Ranchi road corridor” project is expected to commence soon, decongesting the traffic issue. The corridor will provide a smooth ride and easy convenience for commuters, with the 3.6 km long elevated corridor being a four-lane road built on a single pillar. The estimated cost of the elevated flyover project is around Rs. 534 crores, with plans to transform existing roads into a four-lane stretch. Although multiple plans have been proposed in the past, this project is finally expected to take off.
