Delhi Mumbai Express way is a 1,350-kilometer-long access-controlled highway project in India that will connect the National Capital New Delhi to the financial center of India i.e. Mumbai. The foundation stone for this project was placed in March 2019 by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The total estimated cost of the project, including land acquisition fees, civil work cost is to be around 1,00,000 crores (USD $13.1 billion). The Delhi Mum Exp’ will run from Delhi’s DND Flyway to Maharashtra’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port, traveling through Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

It is planned to have eight lanes that can be expanded to twelve, with the first eight-lane configuration cutting the current 24-hour travel time to 12 hours. Furthermore, the middle portion of this expressway will be reserved for four additional lanes as well as utilities, plantation, and public transportation on both sides. Along with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, this futuristic highway would form the backbone of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

The DND-Faridabad-KMP Expressway is an access-controlled expressway in Delhi NCR, India that is currently under construction. It will be 59 km long and 6 lanes wide, connecting the DND Flyway & Ring Road junction in Delhi with the KMP Expressway at Khalilpur village, Haryana. This expressway is now a part of the larger Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project &will also have an additional 31 km spur link from Sector-65, Faridabad bypass to Jewar Int Airport. In Haryana’, the expressway will pass through the existing Faridabad bypass road, which has been transfered to NHAI by HSVP for the construction of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project.

The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is an under construction controlled-access expressway that will connect Bahadurgarh border near Delhi to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir via Haryana and Punjab. It will have a spur section that will connect Nakodar with the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Raja Sansi, Amritsar. This 670 km long expressway will be 4 lanes wide & expandable up to 8 lanes in future if required, and once completed, it will eventuallyreduce the current Delhi-Katra distance from 727 km to 588 km, and the time travel will be reduced from 14 hours to 6 hours, and the Delhi-Amritsar distance to 405 km, and from 8 hours to 4 hours.

The project is expected to cost ₹35,000 crores and will have a trauma center, ambulances, fire brigades, traffic police, bus bays, truck stops, interchanges with refreshment, and recreational facilities. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) was completed in November 2019, and land acquisition commenced from January 2020. M/S Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd. was appointed as the DPR consultant to carry out alignment studies, which submitted the final shortest proposed alignment report of the Delhi-Nakodar-Gurdaspur section in September 2019, the Nakodar-Amritsar section in June 2020, and the survey is currently under progress in the Jammu section.

The proposed stations include Delhi, Noida, Jewar Airport, Mathura, Agra, New Etawah, South Kannauj, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Raebareli, Prayagraj, New Bhadohi, and Varanasi. The New Delhi Railway Station is set to be rebuilt as part of a government-funded Rs 4,700 crore plan, without the need for private capital. The redesign of the station, based on an already approved design and Master Plan, will include two signature domes, separate arrival and departure areas, retail space and utility services across 2.2 lakh square meters of floor space.

The terminal buildings will have a dome shape and will include two arrival and two departure points, connected by two 9m-wide skywalks. The station will feature 86 lifts and 67 escalators, as well as solar panels and sustainable waste management systems. The project will be completed without foot-over bridges and will include a revamp of the surrounding areas under a public-private partnership project later.

It is projected to be operational in the next 14 months from the Noida side, while the entire route will take three years to complete. The detailed route includes sections in Ghaziabad, Noida, and Faridabad districts. The completed expressway designed by IIT-Roorkee will offer commuters direct connectivity between Noida and Greater Faridabad. Additionally, a bridge is planned from Noida’s Sector 150 to National Highway 19 in Faridabad as a part of the FNG Expressway.

The Urban Extension Road-II (UER II) is an upcoming access-controlled expressway in Delhi NCR, India. It will be 75.7 km long, 6 lanes (main expressway) & 4 lanes (spurs) wide and will form a semicircle on the western side of Delhi. The main route of the expressway would start from National Highway 44 at Alipur then passes from Rohini, Mundka, Najafgarh, Dwarka, and end at Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway on National Highway 48 near Mahipalpur.

It has two side spurs – one from Bawana in Northwest Delhi to Sonipat in Bawana’s North and second in West Delhi from between Tikri border & Najafgarh to NH9 Bahadurgarh south bypass. The Delhi NCT has 4 concentric ring roads around it, and UER-II & Chilla-Okhla Expressway form the third ring outside it. Outside these ring roads, NCR region will have 3 Regional Circular Expressways and 3 Zonal Circular Expressways. Additionally, the project features two 4 lane spurs, one connecting NH-344P to Bahadurgarh Bypass and the other to Barwasni Bypass. The estimated cost of this project is around Rs. 7,715.60 crore.

The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is an under-construction semi-high speed rail corridor mega proejct which will link Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. It is a part of Delhi’s Regional Rapid Transit System, with maximum speed of 160 km/hr and a distance of 82.15 km. This mega project project is managed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation nd will cost a whopping ₹30,274 crore (US$3.8 billion).

The first section of the RRTS project, a 11 km stretch from Sahibabad to Duhai, has became operational in October 2023, with four elevated stations. The project”s detailed project report ( DPR. ) was approved by the Uttar Pradesh state government in May 2017 and received the Government of India’s approval in February 2019. The project aims to have a daily ridership of 8 lakh passengers/day (2024).

The Delhi – Saharanpur – Dehradun Expressway project is an access-controlled highway that spans 210 kilometers connecting Delhi to Dehradun. It was approved for construction in 2020 under the Bharatmala Pariyojana’s Delhi – Dehradun Economic Corridor. The project is a mix of brown-field and greenfield and has a total estimated cost of Rs. 13,000 crore.

The project is divided into 4phases and is expected to be completed in December 2024. The project’s owner is the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and foll ows the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) model. Nitin Gadkari laid the project’s foundation stone in February 2021, and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid its foundation stone again in December 2021. This amazing project is currently under construction stage. The highway will have 12 lanes in Phase 1 and six lanes in Phases 2, 3 & 4.

In July 2015, Delhi Metro Phase-4 project’s routes were finalized. The project has six lines totaling to103.93 km within Delhi’s borders. The Central Government approved 61.679 km across three lines, with 45 stations for construction on March 7, 2019. The project’s sub-systems will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA ), and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) plans to procure 288 new coaches to serve all three lines of this phase.

The priority corridors are expected to be completed and opened in June 2026, much later than its original deadline of December 31, 2024. The estimated project cost is Rs. 24,948.65 crore , and the revised funding pattern was announced in December 2019. The Delhi metroSilver Line’s length was increased in October2020, making the entire project to 65.1 km long.

A fully air-conditioned skywalk with a travelator will connect the Sector 52 Metro station on DMRC’s Blue Line and the Sector 51 station on Noida’s Metro’s Aqua Line. The 420-meter-long and five-meter-wide skywalk, built in an “L” shape as a private firm was allotted the adjacent plot, will be ready for commuters in a year.

The travelator will move at 0.5m/second. The skywalk is expected to increase the Aqua Line’s ridership by making it easier for commuters to switch between the Delhi and the Noida Metro. The average daily footfall for the Sector 51 station is 17000, and for Sector 52 station, it’s 44000. The Aqua Line’s ridership is increasing and touched a high of 50231 passengers on October 17, 2022.

The Dwarka Expressway project is an access-controlled expressway under construction with a route alignment spanning 29.10 km, connecting Mahipalpur in Delhi with Kherki Dhaula via New Gurgaon in Haryana. Initially planned as the Northern Peripheral Road in 2006, the project was transferred to NHAI in 2016.

J Kumar and Larsen & Toubro are responsi’ble for the construction, which will include over 20 flyovers/bridges, 2 rail overbridges/underpasses, 11 vehicle underpasses, 20 underground pedestrian crossings, and a cycle/bike path. The project is expected to be completed and opened by end of 2024, beyond its deadline of 2022. The total estimated cost or the value of project is Rs. 8,662 crore.
