Haryana Orbital Rail-Corridor (HORC) is an upcoming railway project in Haryana, India that is expected to be completed by March 31, 2025. The twin-track railway line will run for 121.7 kilometers and follow the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) on the western side of Delhi. It will connect Palwal to Sonipat through Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhoda, and connect with existing railway lines at Palwal, Patli, Sultanpur, Asaudha, and Harsana Kalan. Additionally, it will link up with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) at Prithala near Palwal railway station.

HORC project is expected to transport 20,000 passengers and 50 million tons of cargo per annum once it is completed. Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development-Corporation ( HRIDC ), a JV between the Ministry of Railways and the Government of Haryana – Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), will construct the railway line. In September 2020, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of the Government of India approved ₹5,617 crore (US$700 million) for the project.

The maximum speed for trains on this line will be 160 km/hr, covering the entire distance of 103 km in 1 hour. The line’s DPR was approved by Haryana Government’s Cabinet in December 2020, and it is currently awaiting approval from the Delhi and Central governments. The line’s estimated cost is Rs. 21,627 crore, with an expected completion date of 2028. By 2031, the estimated daily ridership is 7.79 lakh passengers/day.

The National Highway Authority of India has given the green signal for the construction of a 34km outer ring road for Karnal under NHAI’s Bharatmala project. The estimated cost of the project will be ₹1,766 crore and ₹973 crore will be spent on land-acquisition from 23 villages including Kunjpura, Subhari, and Shamgarh. The project will have a logistic park on around 125 acres near Ganjo Garhi village and a flyover of 2.1km along with the railway road in Karnal will also be constructed. The width & length of the six-lane road will be 34km and 60m, respectively. The project is expected to provide relief to residents of Karnal and nearby villages.

The Gurgaon (Gurugram) Metro, also known as the Rapid-Metro, is a single line system consisting of 11 stations. Phase 1 of the project involved building a 5.1 km line to connect the Delhi Metro’s Sikanderpur Station with the DLF Cybercity business district. Phase 2 of the project extended the line by 7 km, connecting Sikanderpur Station with Sector 55-56 via 5 new stations on Golf Course Road. The entire line is serviced by 12 three-coach trains. On October 22, 2019, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation took over operations of the line after its original operator expressed its inability to run operations due to low footfall and high operational expenditure.

Numerous new metro lines have been proposed to connect Gurgaon with neighborhoods within Gurgaon, old Gurgaon, Dwarka, Bawal, Manesar, Faridabad and Sohna, but these are yet to be approved by the Haryana Government. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation is the nodal agency for executing these lines. The Gurgaon Metro has an approved route for a new line, which will run from HUDA City Centre to Palam Vihar via Moulsari Avenue, forming a ring line. The system specifications for the line include a top speed of 80 kmph and an average speed of 35 kmph.

The project, worth Rs 388 crore, also includes the construction of a barrage and reservoir. Adi Badri is a place in the foothills of Shivalik range, 90 km east of Kurukshetra. The Haryana government has allocated Rs 215 crore for the construction of the dam.

After several disputes and delays spanning more than three decades, the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway project, connecting these cities and decongesting Delhi’s roads, is set to be revived by the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The Noida authority and other concerned agencies will undertake the construction of the 43km-long expressway, which was originally proposed in 1989 at a cost of ₹1,000 crore.

The project had been stalled due to disagreements between the two states over the funding pattern of a 600-metre-long bridge to be built across the Yamuna river near Noida’s Mangroli village. However, the two states have now agreed to share 50% of the bridge cost, with the Public Works Department (PWD) building the bridge and Noida and Faridabad sharing the cost.

The 1256 km Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor, also known as Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, is a partially access-controlled highway under construction by NHAI. The highway will pass through Punjab, Haryana , Rajasthan, & Gujarat. 915.85 km of this highway will be built on a greenfield alignment, while the rest will be built by upgrading existing national highways. The project aims to improve the efficiency of freight movement and boost exports.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 80,000 crore, and the deadline for completion is December 2025. The project is being developed under the Bharatmala-Pariyojana Phase-I program, and its feasibility report and detailed project report were prepared by various consultants. When ready, the expressway will reduce the distance between Amritsar and Jamnagar from 1,430 km to 1,256 km, cutting down the travel time from 26 hr to about 13 hr. This exp will cover a distance of 85 km in Haryana state.
